State police got a strange call in Sullivan County last weekend when a cleanup crew contacted them saying they found what appeared to be an old torpedo.
The rusted device appears to be approximately 4 feet long in size, based on photos provided to News 12.
Authorities say the explosive was determined to be real but inactive or inert.
News 12 is told the vacant home where it was found on Steam Hollow Road belonged to a collector who died in 2006.
State police removed the device from the residence.
