Officials from Orange and Rockland Utilities say they are prepared for the upcoming nor’easter.

Officials tell News 12 they have 475 extra linemen on top of their usual 60 crews. They say they are especially keeping an eye on areas like Sloatsburg that were hit the hardest in the last storm.

“The previous storms we weren't able to get the crews because everyone was holding on to them, because they were expecting the storm,” says Mike Donovan, of O&R Utilities. “But because the crews were available this time, we snapped them up while we could and it turned out to be very good bet for us.”

Donovan also says the utility company is planning to prepare for power outages by prestaging neighborhoods with wires and poles as a precaution.

In addition to the additional mutual aid, all 1,100 employees will be on the job, from the call center to the linemen.
