Local officials distributed masks at a drive-thru event outside the Rockland Fire Training Center in Pomona Friday.
Roughly 250 businesses and nonprofits received 100 masks each so they can resume operations safely as reopening continues.
"I'm here to get masks for our employees and for the public to keep us healthy and safe through this time," said Ann Marie Uhrig, of Ideal Barber Shop.
"It is very difficult for them. They've lost a lot of money, so things are tight. The least, I think, that we can do here at county government is finding a way to make their lives a little bit easier," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
Officials say all 25,000 masks that were handed out were part of a generous donation to the county.
