has confirmed its first case of monkeypox.
A resident tested
positive for the illness, which has been confirmed by the state Health
Department.
Orange County
logged its first case Wednesday.
This brought
Hudson Valley's case count total to 22.
In New York,
there are now 831 cases, a big jump from 679 on Wednesday.
Vaccines are
currently available in Mount Vernon, Yonkers and Greenburgh.
Ulster County is also investigating what could be its first case of monkeypox.
The county's health commissioner says a test result could be available as early as Thursday.
The announcement comes as Orange and Greene counties confirmed their first cases of monkeypox Wednesday.
Sullivan County had its first case last month.
Monkeypox is a rare, viral infection. which can lead to hospitalization or death if left untreated.
