Nearly a dozen new coronavirus cases are now being reported in Orange County after outbreaks at two separate day cares.
Officials say seven people tested positive at Heather's Place Daycare on Route 208 in Montgomery. They also say four tested positive at Patty Cake Playhouse on Route 9W in Newburgh.
News 12 was told a mix of children, parents and staff tested positive and were sick two weeks ago, but are now doing OK.
A representative for Heather's Place says they are continuing to take every possible measure to ensure the health and safety of children and staff.
Both facilities temporarily shut down for deep cleaning and are now back open.
Officials say all of the cases are mild, and the director for Heather's Place says some never showed any symptoms.
As parents wait on word about whether schools will reopen next month, County Executive Steve Neuhaus says the situation, involving kids, is cause for concern.
"There's going to be positive cases if the kids return back to school, which is what a lot of parents are nervous about," he says.
Despite the new cases, Neuhaus says the county's coronavirus numbers remain low at a total of 11,000 confirmed cases.
