Police officers involved in deadly shooting at a Princeton Panera Bread shop have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
SWAT officers shot and killed Scott Mielentz inside the restaurant this past March after a four-hour standoff.
According to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Mielentz stated a number of times that he had a gun, and he pointed it at the officers before they fired. It turned out to be a BB gun.
Officials say that Mielentz also stated multiple times that he wanted to die and that he was going to shoot the officers. Mielentz also apparently told friends that he wanted to die.
The investigation found that the officers acted appropriately.
