Officer who rescued kids from snowbank: Just part of the job
One of the police officers who saved two boys after they were buried in a snowbank says he and his fellow officers were only doing their job.
Officer Brandon Rola is one of the people who helped saved the lives of 9-year-old Elijah Martinez and 11-year-old Jason Martinez.
The boys were building a snowbank in a parking lot on Kenny Court, just across the street from their family home, when a plow operator unknowingly pushed snow over them, trapping them.
The seven-year veteran of the Newburgh Police Department said while he could not hear the children, they heard the plows coming and were able to hear the officers outside.
When asked if he and the other officers considered themselves heroes, Rola said protecting and serving is just part of their jobs.
