An NYPD officer accused of opening fire at two men in a parked car while drunk will face trial.
Officer Brendan Cronin was off duty when he allegedly fired 14 shots at a car stopped at a red light in Pelham back in April. The passenger, Joe Felice, was hit six times, while driver Rob Borrelli escaped unharmed.
Investigators say Cronin told police on the scene that he was on his way home from a City Island bar after spending the day at firearms training and then at a bar where he had nearly 10 drinks.
The 27-year-old was in court Thursday, where his attorney pushed to have his indictment dismissed. The judge disagreed and said the case will go to trial. His legal team says they plan to use a psychiatric defense.
Cronin is facing two charges of attempted murder. He is due back in court on Oct. 30.
