An attempted terror attack Monday in midtown Manhattan caused chaos for commuters who say they were left in the dark as their buses slowed to a stop during the busy rush hour.
As Martha Diaz's ride from Mount Ivy inched closer to the Lincoln Tunnel, text messages alerted her to the explosion under the Port Authority Bus Terminal. But the bus, filled with passengers, kept moving.
"It was a lot going on at the same time," says Diaz, of Pomona. "It was like snails going into the tunnel...little by little."
As police secured the area around the Port Authority and apprehended the suspected terrorist, 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, Diaz and her fellow commuters were left unaware and barely moving.
Diaz and hundreds of commuters from the Hudson Valley eventually got to the city.
