A Rockland County group hosted a candlelight vigil in Nyack Thursday night for victims of drug overdoses.
Event organizers say 40 people from Rockland have died of an overdose in just the past year.
Members of the group Rockland Connects, which hosted the vigil, say they want all addicts to know that they can beat addiction.
Betty Berlinger lost her son to an overdose and says she wants to see drug use stop.
"I'm not looking for blood. I'm looking for it to stop before more kids die," Berlinger said.
Advocates in the community say they continue fighting drug use until there is a solution.
