Nyack has canceled its New Year's Eve celebration because its annual fireworks display hit a financial snag.
The fireworks display over Memorial Park was meant to be an annual tradition.
Past displays been funded by grants and the state tourism board. This year, the financial responsibility fell to the county. Officials say there was no money in the county budget for the display.
Even though the funds are tight, there have been talks through social media about getting the fireworks back next year by raising private funds.
