After three decades behind bars, a notorious Rockland County murderer is now a free man.
On Wednesday, Bernard Legaros was released on parole after serving 33 years for shooting 26-year-old Norwegian model Eigil Dag Vesti at his family's Stony Point estate -  all allegedly with the help of Manhattan's biggest art mogul at the time, Andrew Crispo.
Former Rockland District Attorney Kenneth Gribetz, who prosecuted the case, says Legaros shot Dag Vesti after luring him with Crispo from a New York City gay club up to the estate off Buckberg Road.
The pair then allegedly burned the body and dumped it behind the home.
The only thing left for authorities to identify was the victim's face, preserved by the leather S&M death mask he was wearing.

“They would have gotten away with murder literally, if he didn't have that death mask,” says Gribetz.

Legaros took the fall, while Crispo walked free.

Gribetz says there was no corroborative evidence otherwise.

According to recent town records, the Legaros family still owns the estate. It's still unclear if Legaros will ever come back to where the grisly murder took place.
