Westchester County Executive George Latimer is slamming the company under contract to manage Rye Playland.

Latimer says Standard Amusements is not negotiating in good faith and hasn’t told the county what it has planned for the historic park.

This comes after the company went to a local newspaper with what it had planned for Playland’s future - before sharing it with the county.

Latimer is pushing to renegotiate some terms of the 2016 contract with Standard Amusements.

The deal was done under the Astorino administration, and Latimer says his administration has deep concerns about some elements of the contract.

The county is also concerned about a last-minute move made at the end of the previous administration that puts the initial financial burden on the county instead of Standard Amusements in upgrading the park.

Standard Amusements is expected to take over full ownership of the park in November 2019.

News 12 has been told negotiations between both sides are ongoing. Latimer says he will do whatever needs to be done to defend the interests of the residents and taxpayers of Westchester County.

Standard Amusements says it is ready to engage in meaningful discussions. It points out that it has always operated in good faith and has been a committed partner in an effort to revitalize Playland.
