Residents across Northern Westchester are reporting clear, almost dry conditions a day after the region was blanketed with two feet of snow.
Residents say there were patches of snow and ice during the morning commute, but by midday those patches were melting and roads and highways were clean. Somers residents say they took the storm in stride and enjoyed a relaxing Sunday stuck inside their homes.
Somers Highway Superintendent Tom Chiaverini says that despite the fast recovery, the storm was tough to tackle. Chiaverini says highway crews worked almost continually through the storm and encountered visibility problems. He also warned drivers against driving after dark, when lower temperatures can make wet roads icy.
