After a week of erratic weather, Westchester and the Hudson Valley were slammed by a storm that brought heavy rain, wind and ice Thursday.
Sleet and freezing rain made the roads slippery in the northern part of the region, resulting in numerous accidents.
?I usually drive to work, just slow down a little bit and watch out for the other guy,? says Carl Ranke, of Somers.
A winter storm warning was issued for Orange County, and a winter weather advisory was issued for Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties. The storm is expected to rage on Thursday night into Friday morning. Drivers are advised to be extra cautious on the road and slow down to avoid possible black ice formations.
Not everyone, however, is dreading the sight of icy roads and dropping mercury.
?I ice-climb, so for me the temperature change is beautiful,? says Christina Natal, of Mahopac. ?It?s more snow melting, more ice forming in the Adirondacks.?
