Residents in Orange and Rockland counties woke up to rattling early Saturday morning as a small earthquake struck in New Jersey.
The minor 2.1-magnitude quake occurred around 1 a.m. It was centered in Ringwood, New Jersey, but tremors were felt throughout many towns in Rockland and Orange counties.
A viewer in Suffern wrote to News 12 saying she heard something that sounded like an explosion and felt her house rock.
Although earthquakes have happened in the area in the past, experts say they are uncommon.
