An accident in Newburgh Monday afternoon left a motorcyclist in critical condition.

Police say the motorcyclist was flown to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries.

Witnesses say it appears the motorcycle and a Jeep Grand Cherokee collided as the SUV backed out of a parking space on Broadway in Newburgh.

Police say the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was first taken to St. Luke’s Hospital but transferred by helicopter due to the seriousness of the injuries.

Police say the SUV driver was not hurt and refused medical attention at the scene.
