New Zealand among 1st in world to approve paid leave following miscarriage, stillbirth
New Zealand has approved a bill that would give mothers and their partners three days of bereavement leave following a miscarriage or stillbirth.
The bill aims to give women and their partners time to come to terms with their loss without having to tap into sick leave.
New Zealand is only the second country in the world to provide leave for miscarriage and stillbirth, according to one lawmaker.
“I hope this bill will go some way in recognizing the need for time and space to deal with the unimaginable grief that comes with losing a pregnancy,” saidGinnyAndersen, member of New Zealand's Parliament.
