New Yorkers ready to roll dice on casino gambling
New Yorkers are ready to roll the dice when it comes to legalizing Las Vegas-style casino gambling.
A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 64 percent of New Yorkers support legalizing gambling outside of Indian reservations.
Thirty-one percent of people polled are opposed to the idea while 5 percent say they are unsure. New York currently only allows electronic gaming like the video slot machines at the Yonkers Raceway.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed legalizing table games to help the state's economy and compete with Atlantic City and Connecticut casinos. The governor's proposal to legalize casinos in New York would take at least two years to become a reality.
