The independent safety task force assembled after a string of violent incidents at New Rochelle High School has released its final report.
The group of residents, city leaders and teachers shared 22 recommendations on ways to improve life for students.
Task force chairman Dr. Jonathan Brice has called for improved guidance for at-risk students, increased security on school campuses and updating district policies.
Dr. Brice also suggested changing the open campus to a modified open campus.
"It's not something every student gets, but you get it if you're doing the right things and contributing to the overall positive culture and climate of the school," Dr. Brice said.
Students and alumni of the school say the rule change makes sense.
Dr. Brice will present the list of recommendations to the District Board of Education on Wednesday.
