New Rochelle firefighters are being hailed as heroes for saving the life of a toddler Monday.
The parents of Angelo Pino brought the 16-month-old toddler to Firehouse 3 on North Avenue after he stopped breathing. Angelo suffers from breath-holding spells that cause him to stop breathing when he's upset.
He passed out Monday night. His mother says that 911 put them on hold, so they drove quickly to the firehouse.
The firefighters, who are all trained EMTs, immediately started performing CPR and giving him oxygen. Angelo started breathing again within a couple minutes.
Angelo's parents and big brother came back to the firehouse Wednesday to say thank you.
"I would love to say thanks to the fire department for saving my son. There's not enough thank yous in the world. No parent wants to lose their child or see them go through something like this. I'm so grateful for saving his life," said mom Amanda Capraro.
