A new county-run family court is coming to downtown New Rochelle.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer announced Monday that the county signed a 30-year lease and plans to construct the state-of-the-art family court on Garden Street.
Latimer says the current location at 420 North Ave. is not a long-term answer.
New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson says he is happy that the new court will be located near the city's transit center.
"It's vitally important that families facing challenges be able to access services close and convenient to home," Bramson says. "And we are particularly pleased that the location that's been selected has such easy access to mass transit, as well as proximity to population centers."
The family court is expected to move into its new facility on Garden Street in New Rochelle in 2021.
