A 5-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital this morning after falling out of a first-floor window during a freak accident in New Rochelle.
Police say the child was jumping on his mattress in a first-floor room of a multi-family house on Woodland Avenue when he bounced right out of the window and onto the concrete below.
The window did not have guards that are required in New Rochelle for any apartment where children up to the age of 10 live.
The young boy is now being treated at the Westchester Medical Center.
