New Rochelle has been awarded $10 million in a downtown revitalization contest.
New Rochelle beat out more than two dozen other cities and towns in its region to come out on top.
"This is a validation of the hard work we've been doing in recent years to bring back our downtown, and also make sure that our downtown is connected in an intelligent way to neighborhoods,” said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson.
Some of the money will be used to transform the Boys and Girls Club and the Lincoln Avenue neighborhood surrounding it.

Bramson says the state has a process as to where most of the money will go.

"We're going to be working in a collaborative and transparent way to utilize this funding to the most positive effect,” said Bramson.

This is the third time New Rochelle has competed in this statewide downtown revitalization initiative. The city came up short twice
