A new Lego resale store that opened in Rockland County is providing jobs for people with special needs.
Brick It Again officially opened Tuesday in the Lake Ridge Plaza in Valley Cottage.
It is run by Jawonio, a decades-old nonprofit in Rockland County, that provides services and opportunities for people with special needs.
CEO Randi Rios-Castro says the 3,000-square-foot space will be staffed with a store manager and five to eight individuals with disabilities.
"This is really important because they really are valued members of our society…and they love to earn a paycheck, and we can help them do that,” she says.
Rios-Castro says this opportunity was made possible through a $300,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.
Brick It Again is asking for the public's help by donating Lego bricks they may have at home. Donations will be tax deductible.
The store also offers a party room.
Brick It Again is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
