New hiking trail opens at Teatown Lake Reservation
A new, 2.3-mile hiking trail opened Friday morning at Teatown Lake Reservation.
The trail, called "Twin Lakes," is the 15th on the 1,000-acre property. Officials say it was 20 years in the making and built entirely by volunteers.
The trail meanders along two separate lakes, farm fields with stone fences and challenging terrain, officials say.
"Our mission is to inspire the community to lifelong environmental stewardship, and we know the first step in doing that is to get people outdoors, get them to appreciate and respect the beauty of nature," says Kevin Carter, Teatown executive director.
With the addition of Twin Lakes, there are now 15 miles of trails on the reservation.
