Gov. Kathy Hochul is signing an executive order to make it easier for some New Yorkers to renew property tax exemptions.

Under the provision, local governments will not require people to renew in person.

It is specifically for low-income senior citizens and people with disabilities.

The order also permits clinical labs to send COVID-19 tests from New York to out-of-state facilities in an effort to ease the current testing situation.

The state Senate and Assembly will also be allowed to meet remotely if needed Jan. 15.
