New City residents without power since Wednesday’s nor’easter
Many in New City have been without power since Wednesday's nor’easter as powerful winds forced trees down onto live wires.
On Third Street, red tape cautioned neighbors of the high voltage as one tree dangerously cradled a power line.

The force of Wednesday's nor’easter had Rockland County Executive Ed Day calling in the National Guard to help remove more than 1,000 trees littering the streets and roadways.
Some residents in the area say that the assistance can't come soon enough.

"I've been in this county over 60 years. This is as bad as I've seen it,” said Kevin Kryshear, of New City.
There have been more than 100 incidents with trees and power lines in Clarkstown alone in the past 24 hours. When 25 National Guard members get to work Friday, they will be paired with local crews to help with tree and snow removal and de-energizing wires.
