A ribbon-cutting ceremony in Chappaqua Saturday attracted quite a crowd. However, not everyone was there to celebrate the renovations to the library.

Local leaders and residents gathered outside newly renovated library while across the street dozens of New Castle police officers and supporters rallied for a new contract. It has been more two years since the New Castle Police Benevolent Association's last contract with the town expired. The issue has been in binding arbitration since April and members of the New Castle PBA want the town to give them the contract they have been asking for.

New Castle Supervisor Jan Wells feels says the town has made an effort to compromise. Both sides are expected to meet back at the bargaining table in January.
