New ad campaign launched for World AIDS Day
Mayor de Blasio and other city officials joined the health department today to unveil a new report and launch a new ad campaign for World AIDS Day.
One new report out shows HIV diagnoses are at an all-time low, but despite that, more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. are still living with an HIV infection. Statistics show the african-american community accounted for an estimated 44 percent of new HIV infections in 2010. They also accounted for 41 percent of people living with an HIV infection in 2011.
The new data shows almost one in seven of are unaware of their HIV infection, which is why officials say it's so important to get tested.
Locations to get tested in the Bronx include Access Community Health Center on Ferris Place, the Acacia Network on Park Avenue, and at the Morris Heights Health Center on West Burnside Avenue.
