Families came together Monday morning at Haverstraw Bay Park to pay tribute to the fallen and support those grieving on the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
Over 200 people attended this year's memorial service, commemorating the 81 individuals with ties to Rockland County who lost their lives that day.
Each victim was honored with the ringing of a bell as their names were read aloud during the ceremony.
Ten-year-old Eli Burrows, reading names for the first time, solemnly recited his uncle Eric Lehrfeld's name, highlighting the deeply personal connections to the tragedy. Lehrfeld, a 32-year-old native of New City, was attending a tech conference in the North Tower at the time of the attacks.
The overwhelming message was “Never forget.”
