A mystery is brewing in Ulster County, where nearly a dozen cats from the same neighborhood have all gone missing.
Multiple families in a quiet neighborhood in Downtown Kingston are still left without answers about where their pets have gone. Jasmine Harbinger-Kane says the pets all disappeared from a three-block radius, mostly from late August to early September.
"The neighbors quickly found out about each other as more cats here started to go missing," says Harbinger-Kane.
The owners have reached out to police and the SPCA, who they say are warning nearby pet owners to keep cats inside. Harbinger-Kane says she believes there's a possibility the animals could have been harmed and even euthanized.
"I guess there's a couple of organizations that do that. We've heard there could be pit bull rings. They use cats as bait and we've also heard coyotes and foxes," says Harbinger-Kane.
As the mystery continues, the families say they are still holding out hope of their pets' return.
