Mt. Vernon Mayor Davis gets grand send-off
Supporters of Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis gathered Sunday to give him a grand send-off before he hands over the reigns to City Hall.
The group Friends of Ernie Davis held the event at New Rochelle's Surf Club. The same group is part of a $600 million lawsuit against Mount Vernon Mayor-elect Clinton Young and federal investigators.
The suit claims that the feds were politically motivated when they raided City Hall just before the election. Davis' supporters believe the move was meant to disenfranchise his voters.
Davis, who is considering working in Antigua and parts of Africa, has said he isn't bitter. "I have come to the conclusion that there's much more work to be done ? and maybe I have saturated this community ? but I haven't saturated the bigger community," he said.
Clinton Young will take over Jan. 1.
