Firefighters in Mount Vernon had to call in aid Wednesday to battle three separate fires that started within minutes of each other.
According to fire officials, the first two-alarm blaze was at the Western Beef store. One worker claims he saw a shoplifter start the fire. Fire officials are calling this fire suspicious. The second fire was a four-alarm blaze on Franklin Avenue. Two firefighters and one man suffered minor injuries. Officials say the third blaze was at a home on Union Avenue. They say this fire was a minor oven fire.
Two of the fires remain under investigation. Fire officials say none of the blazes appear to be connected.
