Mount Vernon Democrats are outraged over a campaign flyer endorsing the opponent of Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore that has been attributed to them.

Mount Vernon Democratic Committee Chairman Deveraux Cannick says the flyer endorsing Tony Castro, which went out as a mass mailing this week, was intended to mislead voters ahead of the election.

The front of the mailer contains an endorsement of Castro by the National Black Police Association. The back of the flyer accuses DiFiore of mishandling the investigation into the 2008 friendly fire killing of a police officer and calls for her removal.

Cannick's committee had reaffirmed its endorsement of DiFiore Friday.
