The woman crowned Mrs. Westchester 2014 has been arrested and charged with stealing.
State police say Jennifer Czarniecki, of Mohegan Lake, stole thousands of dollars from the group home where she works in Somers. Czarniecki has already been fired from Living Resources, which houses people with developmental disabilities.
Investigators say as manager, she was responsible for the spending allowance of all 12 residents. She had access to the group home's credit card and admitted to using it for a $200 purchase. They say Czarniecki declined to comment about another missing $2,000.
State police say she showed up at a barracks in Somers two weeks ago and volunteered information, which was enough to charge her.
She was crowned Mrs. Westchester in January. Czarniecki announced on her Facebook page two weeks ago that she would not compete in the Mrs. New York State pageant for personal reasons.
