Mount Vernon parking garage deemed unsafe
Several stores were shut down and evacuated in Mount Vernon after a parking garage was deemed unsafe on Tuesday.
Police blocked off the garage on East Sandford Boulevard after a break was discovered in one of the garage’s columns Tuesday.
Shoppers were evacuated from Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond for the day.
"They shut down the place very fast. They were saying there's deterioration, probably due to rain from last night, a lot of rain. It was structural damage that was stuff falling on cars,” said witness Tyler Powell.
The shops reopened on Wednesday.
