12h agoThe closure of two heavily trafficked routes in Mount Vernon will also impact Bee-Line bus routes.
Closures on Fulton Avenue between Beekman and East Third Street and East Third Street between Hartford and Langdon Avenues started at noon on Friday.
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said overpasses along both strips were red-flagged by state Department of Transportation officials over structural concerns.
Traffic will be rerouted to the city's southeast side. There will also be parking and bus route changes.
Due to this emergency bridge work, residents can expect detours on Bee Line routes 42 and 53.
Effective Friday, multiple bus stops will be skipped until further notice. Just a few of those stops include South Fulton Avenue at East 3rd, East 4th, and East 5th.
