Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard says the vigil for 14-year-old fatal shooting victim Zyaire Fernandez has been rescheduled to Friday night.
The Healing Together Vigil will take place at 6 p.m. at the Levister Towers Courtyard, where Fernandez was shot.
Patterson-Howard says people should come in peace and love to lift the family, kids and community in prayer.
A family spokesman says Fernandez's mother needed medical help this week in the courthouse at an arraignment for the suspect because it was difficult.
The spokesman says Fernandez's mother thanks law enforcement for arresting a suspect, but that it does not bring her son back. She wants to see more school resource officers, positive activities for kids in the city and guns off the street.
