An aspiring musician from Mount Vernon died early Saturday morning just a block away from his home when his car crashed into a tree and flipped over.
The accident happened at around 5 a.m. when Joey Calvert, 23, was driving his Volkswagen Fox along Macquesten Parkway. Neighbors say they heard the car skid along the curb before crashing into a tree and toppling over a fence. The Volkswagen then flipped several times, smashing into four parked cars and killing Calvert.
Police say Calvert was ejected from his seat and pinned under two parked cars. Calvert was rushed to the hospital, but he died on the way.
Sources believe the young musician spent the night at a local bar with friends.
Police are investigating to determine the cause of the crash and whether or not alcohol played a role in it.
