A Mount Vernon event designer has figured out a sweet way to still pay off her student loans while also giving back during the pandemic.
A young entrepreneur, Sydney Nigro, 22, owns The Board Boss - which makes doughnut walls for events. She decorates her party display pieces with actual doughnuts.
She said when the pandemic hit, she went out of business for three months because people canceled parties they scheduled for later on.
Instead of shuttering, Nigro used her resourcefulness to adapt and is now selling balloon arrangements customers can buy to send to front-line workers.
Nigro is delivering ‘Year of the Nurse’ balloon orders to hospitals in the Bronx and Westchester, and has also found a way to still use doughnuts.
She takes 15% of every sale to buy and donate the treats to front-line workers.
