Mount Vernon middle school students are participating in a summer program that is putting them on the path to college.
Students heading into eighth grade this September are building robots as part of summer STEM, or Science Technology, Engineering and Math camp.
The campers, some considered to be at risk, are taught by college professors from major universities who visit Longfellow Middle School for two weeks.
The professors teach the students, but also serve as role models at a critical time in the student's development.
