A Mount Vernon police detective is recovering after being shot with his own gun during an interrogation Wednesday.
A 33-year-old Bronx man, who police have not identified, voluntarily submitted to questioning at the Mount Vernon police headquarters. Detective Matthew Frank was shot in the left foot. Mount Vernon police say Det. Frank was questioning the man in connection with last week's murder of Glenn Brown. According to police, as Frank was leaving the room, the Bronx man lunged at the detective. During an ensuing scuffle, police say the detective?s gun went off.
According to police, the man had been cooperating and was not handcuffed while being questioned about Brown?s murder. Brown was gunned down in his car Friday just 100 yards from his home. Police have not said what charges the man who shot Detective Frank is facing or if he is connected to Brown?s murder.
