Mount Vernon City School District teachers are fed up with ongoing payroll issues that have resulted in late or incorrect paychecks.
Union leaders of the Mount Vernon Federation of Teachers addressed the school board at Tuesday's meeting, saying some of the problems began before the current school year.
The union claims teachers and staff are seeing incorrect deductions each pay period, which is hurting their ability to pay bills on time, file their taxes or budget their personal finances properly. They're now demanding the district to immediately fix the problem
"MVFT union reps have spent countless hours listening to our members in tears about how payroll has affected their lives and mental health,” said Janice Pollard, a representative of the Mount Vernon Federation of Teachers.
The board didn't respond to these payroll allegations at Tuesday's meeting.
News 12 reached out to the district for a comment.
