Fire officials say several people were hospitalized and two families were left homeless after a fire broke out Tuesday morning in Mount Kisco.
According to Mount Kisco officials, the fire started just after midnight at 70 Boltis St. when a child living at the two-story home moved a curtain that was near a lit candle and sparked the fire.
Five people who live in the house were hospitalized with smoke inhalation and one person suffered minor burns. Police say two officers were also taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation after helping rescue some of the home's tenants.
"We're just happy that no one was seriously hurt, other than smoke inhalation," says George Rubin, a neighbor.
