About 80 people who had Mother's Day brunch on a boat found themselves stranded in the Hudson River after the vessel ran ashore in Peekskill.

Authorities took about 30 minutes to rescue passengers from the Tahiti Queen. They say the boat got stuck in the mud at the Charles Point Marina.

"Well, it looks like the boat came in at low tide and perhaps because of the strong northerly winds more water left the bay than usual," Captain Walter Garschagen, of Sea Tow, said.

Garschagen, who led the rescue effort, said the passengers were never in any danger since the boat was just 100 feet away from the dock. Authorities expect that when the high tide comes in, the boat will be able to float again.
