The woman who pleaded guilty in the death of her 6-year-old daughter was found dead late last week.
Kathleen Dymes, 53, was discovered dead Friday morning at the Apple Motor Inn in Ardsley. She had been staying there with her husband, according to the inn's manager.
Dymes' daughter, Lacey Carr, was found dead on April 5, 2015. Her autopsy revealed she had ingested a lethal dose of valium, morphine and Benadryl, drugs her mother left out in the open.
Carr was found unresponsive in her bed at her grandfather's home on Hastings Avenue. Dymes was found unconscious at the same time after attempting to take her own life, but eventually recovered.
Dymes said her daughter's death was accidental. She pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide.
"It's not clear to me Kathleen ever got over mourning for Lacey," says her attorney, Peter Tilem. "It was a very, very emotional period and she had a lot of trouble coping with what happened and what role she played in it."
News 12 is told the inn's manager reported her death, and that Dymes and her husband had been residents there for more than a year.
Tilem says during court proceedings, Dymes had physical injuries, and it was also revealed she suffered severe depression.
Authorities have not disclosed how Dymes died.
