Mother saves daughter from fire
A quick-thinking mother saved her daughter from a house fire in Sloatsburg this morning
Officials say flames ripped through the basement of a two-story home on Waldron Terrace around 8 a.m.
The homeowner tells News 12 she smelled smoke and grabbed her daughter and ran out of the house just in the nick of time.
Firefighters were able to put out the blaze within 20 minutes, but had a tough time reaching the fire due to clutter throughout the home.
Another person inside the home was able to get out safely. However, the family is worried that two cats in the house may have perished.
Officials say at this time the fire appears to be electrical, but crews continue to investigate. "At this point the fire is out and BCI has to check out the house as well as the Sloatsburg fire inspector. Once it's clear with them, they can go back inside," says Sloatsburg Fire Chief Christopher Morse.
