A mother and her child were killed while crossing a road Sunday evening in Fishkill.

State police say Zuleyma Lopez, 28, was just about to cross Route 52 between I-84 and Glenham Road with her four children just after 8:30 p.m. when they were struck by the driver of an SUV.

Lopez and her 10-month-old son Abel Torres-Lopez were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The other three children were taken to Westchester Medical Center. There is no word yet on their conditions.

The 53-year-old driver from Fishkill stayed on the scene.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the accident. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact police at 845-677-7300.
