Montrose senior prank could put students behind bars
A Montrose high school senior prank could put at least 19 students behind bars for up to one year.
Angry parents and students attended a meeting Tuesday about the Hendrick Hudson High School prank. At least 19 students are accused of breaking into school grounds Sunday and planting dozens of ticking alarm clocks around campus. The ticking clocks resulted in a bomb scare at the building Monday.
?We?re all good kids. It was just a joke. We tried to play a joke, it got out of hand. They are taking it too seriously,? one student said.
State police and school officials said jokes, such as ticking clocks, can?t be tolerated in this day and age.
The arrested students have been charged with a felony crime as a result of the incident, which is punishable by one year behind bars. The accused students will also be banned from walking the stage at graduation.
Those students accused of funding the purchase of the clocks could also be banned from the graduation ceremony if they don?t perform community service within the next week.
The accused students are set to be arraigned Monday, June 18, four days before the graduation ceremony.
